Many clients and decorators place two or three vertical subjects side by side to do a horizontal area as shown above a couch, dining table, hall or over master bed space.

The rational for this is the eye will always move back and forth between the subjects, making them more interesting over time and less tining on the subject.

Most fireplaces us a vertical in the space above because a horizontal makes a room look short/squatty where as the vertical makes a room more statuesque, and works better with the ceilng height. Let the space around the .....????
